Simon Clinch, 4th Dan
Simon's training in karate began under Sensei Terry Oliver at his school's Shotokan club where he attained Shodan at the age of 18. After leaving for university, it took many years of sporadic martial training before Simon discovered Okinawan Goju-Ryu with the DKK in 2008.
"Training with the DKK has broadened my understanding of what it truly means to be a martial artist and a fighter. Shihan Mulholland has shown that to be a true martial artist one must constantly be prepared to learn from others and to adapt to an ever evolving environment. Okinawan Goju-Ryu embraces all fighting systems and, in this way, it has proven to be the perfect complement to the technical foundation I gained in my early experiences with Shotokan. Importantly, I find the enthusiasm and high standard of people training in the DKK a joy to behold, and feel it a great privilege to be training under Shihan Mulholland."
Simon achieved the rank of Shodan-Ho in Summer School 2009 and graded to full Shodan a year later in 2010. In 2013, he successfully completed the 30 Man Kumite at the annual DKK summer camp and achieved the grade of Nidan. He gained his Sandan (3rd Dan) in 2016 and completed his weapons assessment and Yondan (4th Dan) grading in 2021.
