Ross Stansfield, 1st Dan

“I joined DKK in 2008. I’d done a bit of aikido as a child but only briefly and more recently some boxing and Muay Thai at the gym, but felt the classes didn't go into much depth and background. Practising karate has made a large and positive contribution to my life. I see my training as developing the mind and body to become a better and more resilient person in the outside world as well as in the Dojo. I learnt how to pick myself up after failure or injury, which are valuable skills that permeate every endeavour in life.

DKK incorporates a massive wealth of knowledge from many martial arts and Goju-Ryu is an all-encompassing style that Shihan Mulholland has distilled into a formidable system. It is the foundation of my understanding of all combat sports. The qualities that are cultivated through the training have served me in good stead through many hard times and I feel very grateful to the club for that.”

Ross was graded to shodan ho in summer 2015 and achieved the rank of full shodan with DKK at Summer Camp 2016.
